Below is information that may be useful as you are moving into town. 

EMERGENCIES - Call 9-1-1 for police, fire and medical response.

HOSPITALS - The closest hospitals with emergency rooms are Kaiser Westside Regional Medical Center, Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro (about 10 minutes away).

URGENT CARE -  There are numerous urgent care facilities in the area within 10-20 minutes of town including ZoomcareTuality Urgent Care, Providence  Immediate Care,  Legacy Health Urgent Care for Kids

VETERINARY SERVICES -  North Plains Veterinary can provide for most small animal needs.  Tanasbourne Veterinary provides afterhours and weekend services

SEWER - Clean Water Services provides wastewater treatment services or 503.681.3600

ELECTRIC POWER - Electricity is Portland General Electric (PGE)  800.542.8818

NATURAL GAS - NW Natural is the natural gas provider which serves residential customers in western Oregon. 800.422.4012

RECYCLING/GARBAGE - Garbarino Disposal provides trash, recycling and greenwaste collection services using a 3-cart system. Contact Garbarino at PO Box 250, North Plains, OR 97133 or 503.647.2335

MAIL - Some North Plains addresses that are located within a 1/4 mile of the post office are required to establish post office boxes in order to receive mail. SCHOOLS - North Plains is located within the Hillsboro School District North Plains Elementary provides education for children in kindergarten thru 6th grade.  Evergreen Middle School (7th and 8th) and Glencoe High School (9th-12th) are located in Hillsboro, OR. LIBRARY - North Plains Public Library is a 2,500 square foot facility adjacent to City Hall which houses over 12,000 items in various formats. The collection focus is on popular materials for all ages. As a member of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS), our Library has access to many other materials via a daily courier service. There is a weekly Storytime for those aged 0-6 and a Summer Reading Program for all ages.  The Friends of the Library host an author series and other programs.  Art exhibits and quilt displays are featured monthly. The Book Club and Writers’ Group for adults meet monthly, and there is a regular First Friday Flick for all ages.  Eleven computers are available for public use all hours the Library is open.  Ten staff and many volunteers keep the Library open 45 hours per week: Mon-Wed 11-7:30, Thu-Sat 11-5:30.

MARKETS - North Plains Market on Commercial Street carries most staples and is open most of the day.  Chevron has a mini market open 24 hours which carries most sundries, and 76 also has a mini market open most of the day.

Full service chain markets like Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertson's, WinnCo, Whole Foods, New Seasons, Walmart, and Thriftway can be reached within 15 minutes in Hillsboro, Banks and Cornelius.  Discount chains like Costco, Cash and Carry and Canned Food Outlet are located nearby as well.  Markets specializing in hispanic, indian and asian foods can be found in Hillsboro and Cornelius.

Generally most shopping area can be found by traveling east on the Sunset Highway 26, or south on Glencoe which becomes 1st street in Hillsboro.
